ruffles

i love ruffles.  my closet is full of jcrew tank tops with ruffles all over them.  it's sort of my thing.  last night i spent hours a while online with some wonderful tutorials on how to make ruffles. after reading this one i felt brave enough to give it a try!  (she has the cutest stuff- right?) 

part of my problem with sewing has been spending more time reading about how to do it than actually trying.

sweet shop party!

my etsy shop has been closed for the summer.  it has been really wonderful taking a little break.  a friend from high school had asked if i would work on her daughter's 3rd birthday party- and i was more than happy to help.  it's been really fun pulling out my paper cutter- i've missed her!

addison wanted a purple and blue birthday party with lots of candy.......i'm thinking i like this soon to be 3 year old :)  here's what we came up with for the little sweetie:

my new favorite dress

it's my new favorite one.  wanna know why?.............i made it!  yes, made it- as in yesterday it was fabric and today it's a dress, that can actually be worn! 

this summer i bought a sewing machine.  it's something i have wanted to learn for years.  i have taken three classes so far.  my teacher is so kind and so patient and i am SO thankful.  i'm like that kid in class with all of the questions........wonder where jack gets that?

corn salsa

it seems like all i've been doing this summer is eating.  my sister-in-law made this super yummy salsa while we were at the beach.  i highly suggest that you make this for yourself.  seriously, i can't get enough of this!  thank you sharyn for sharing your recipe.

here it is: small can of corn, 1/2 red onion, tomato seeded and chopped, juice of one lime, cilantro,
avocado chopped.

 

it's really, really the yummiest salsa ever.  it tastes like summer.  you can serve it with your favorite chips and enjoy.  i really think it would be great in a fajita or over grilled chicken or fish too.
