christmas cookies

step one:  i got the christmas music going.....this song is a FAVORITE of the kids- we heard it a lot!

we pull our all of the things we'll need......

got the recipies all lined up-

aprons on- all tied up.....

washed our hands.....we are currently using the peppermint soap from bath and body works- it's awesome.

we got the mixer working....

we set up stations.  these two were actually a good little team!

once the chocolate chips come out- big brother needs to help out :)

 this girl can't pass up putting things in her mouth.  well, that's not true- she won't put fruit in her mouth, or veggies, or meat- so i guess what i really mean is she can't pass up putting something  sweet in her mouth!

this bark is my new favorite treat

 after a few hours of working we did come out with some pretty finished products:

chocolate italian cookies

christmas bark

pecan tarts

magic cookie bars are at the bottom of the jars- i forgot to take a picture of them.

we added bows- all ready to pass out to our teachers and friends!



so this is how the kids and i spent our saturday while daddy was at work.  it was messy but really fun.  i had moments where i longed for my mom and sisters to be there helping- days like that make me really sad we live so far from them.  baking christmas cookies is one of my favorite christmas traditions.  think we'll do it again next week!  merry christmas!
