watermelon party

here it is.  my first completed etsy birthday party.  if my little annie-p were a summer baby, we'd so be using this hot pink and lime green themed set.  looking at it makes me want to have a picnic- with a nice juicy slice of watermelon of course!

if you'd like to buy this set- please check out my site

the balloons are so much fun.  they are super easy to create- here's how you do it:  cut out the shape you'd like....in this case, watermelon seeds.  use double sided tape to attach them once they've been filled with helium.  yes, it's that easy- and the guests will be so impressed!

spring is in the air

spring has arrived.  jack and will have been  keeping our vases full of my favorite yellow flowers.  i think when you have little ones, there is no need to explain why you have your home decorated with dandelions.

s'mores and strawberry shortcake are great choices for spring cookouts. every once in a while it's good to switch things up.   here is a quick and super easy idea for your next cookout.  all you need is your favorite brownie mix, cupcake papers and spray frosting (which by the way are three of my favorite things).  simply follow the directions to the brownie mix of your choice.  instead of making them in the normal pan, use cupcake papers!  this way, when they are finished you don't even have to cut them. you'll cut the cooking time down about 10 minutes, but since every oven is different- keep checking them.

you are welcome to stop here, or you can decorate them with a touch of frosting.  if you're feeling extra creative, top the frosting with a small piece of candy- an m&m would be adorable.  the mix that i used was enough for 12 cupcakes, so i used the extra mix to make a few mini brownies.  the small ones seem to pop right in my mouth- but because of their tiny size, they don't carry all of that guilt!

Biggest tip of the day:  notice picture #2- to fill the cupcake papers i always use an ice cream scoop.  it's the easiest way to be sure they will all come out the same size.  use that tip for muffins, cupcakes- you name it.

now invite your pals over for a cookout and enjoy the sunshine!

baby shower

when my best pal jenne was expecting her first baby girl i wanted her to be celebrated.  she was already having a baby shower in her hometown with a large group of friends, but i wanted a more intimate gathering.  i enlisted the help of my best friends- each one flew in to surprise jenne, which included a trip from atlanta, california and london.  yes, jenne is a girl who is so worth traveling for.  when i think of her pale pink doesn't pop in my head- she's more of a hot pink and orange kind of kid.  the party was held at her parents beautiful home.  her mom is great, and only she would have this perfect orange quilt that we were able to use as a tablecloth.  she was surprised and we all had a blast.

oh, and just so you know- that darling little girl.....she's hot pink just like her mama.

like what you see?  check out my etsy site.  we can set up a shower listing for that special friend who makes your world a sunny place to live.

party like it's 2008

ok, so i love to plan kids birthday parties. love it. i start working on my kid-o's party long before the event. it's bad, i know. will was born october 28th. i made jordan stop at target on the way home from the hospital to be sure i could get some halloween things for his first birthday party. yes, the ideas were already flowing through my head, and he was three days old. i'm a planner, what can i say?
well, i am flashing back to jack's 3rd birthday. i was thinking fire trucks- he was thinking jo jo's circus. no matter how many times i suggested all of the wonderful things we could do with fire trucks he had his heart set on
jo jo...and so it was. i had to have enough store bought things so he felt like it was a jo jo party, and enough homemade things to make it was special enough for him.  if you're interested in a custom party for your little one, send me an email.  i am excited to work with any theme you'd like. i will also be posting some ideas on my etsy site http://www.sunnylittlethings1.etsy.com/ .   here is jack's jo jo's circus party from 2008:
