her first haircut

today my annie got her first real haircut.  she has wanted one several times before- watching her brothers.  i think mostly she just wanted the sucker they get when it's done.  i decided that i would take anna michael to my stylist, elizabeth who has cut my hair for years.  she was so excited to see miss elizabeth :)  will asked if she was going to get "two on the sides and scissors on the top!"  we'll save that for the boys!

i took some before pictures:

she told me her hands were making her smile bigger!

she's a few weeks shy of two and a half....that's some serious hair for a girl her age.

so....off we went for her big girl appointment.  she was very excited in the waiting area.  she and will liked all of the bottles on the shelves.  will explained to her that it doesn't hurt when your hair gets cut, just when you cut your skin.  i love listening in when the two of them have conversations.

like a big girl she headed up the steps....

hopped right into the chair.....

and made herself comfy!

elizabeth came back and put the special butterfly smock on annie.  she thought she was a big deal at this point!  when asked what she wanted done she said, "get my h-air cut."  and that's what she got.

her prize? a little star wand :)  i love her.  on the way home she asked if her hair was beautiful-  always sweet girl.

thank you elizabeth for making this such a special morning.  i know i was a crazy person snapping 100 pictures over an inch of trimmed hair.  but this was a big day for my girl, so thank you :)

teacher gifts

our family has been a part of the same wonderful preschool for the past three years.  each year i like to help put a nice gift together for the teachers.  since it's a small school we like to change it up from year to year.  in the past we've done flowers pot gift cards - similar to these! this year we decided to get our teachers ready for the beach!

we collected money from the parents in our class and had each child write his/her name on a flip flop or sun.  we filled sand buckets with beach towels, sunscreen, a magizine a lunch cooler and a gift card.  i simply glued the childrens names on wooden dowels and stuck them into the buckets.  a simple yet thoughtful gift for all of their hard work.
