birthday breakfast

will was a week overdue and well worth the wait.  today my willy-wonka turns 3.  this weekend we will celebrate him and we can't wait.  there will be pumpkin puppies, treats and maybe a fire truck!  since today is his actual birthday i thought his normal bowl of oatmeal wouldn't do.  we pulled out the cookie cutters for breakfast today.

this is such an easy way to make breakfast special.   i have tried many times to place the cookie cutter in the pan pouring the batter inside of the cutter. it has NEVER worked for me. my tip of the day is to make a regular pancake and cut if after it's done. the scraps? those are for daddy's plate :)

plastic spiders can be tossed anywhere this time of year :)
happy birthday will.  i hope turning 3 is all you imagine it to be.  you are the syrup on my pancakes.

boo!

i have my own little pumpkin who was born a few days before halloween.  on the way home from the hospital i made my sweet husband stop at target so i could get some halloween goodies for will's first birthday.  yes, that's right i was working on his first birthday before he was a week old.  for the record it was so cute.

i was thrilled when samantha's mom said she wanted to throw a first birthday/halloween party for her!  i took me back to a very fun year!  i hope she loves her party!

samantha is 1

these are menu tags for the party

the guests are wearing halloween costumes to her party, these are their favor tags!

i love the astronaut

happy birthday samantha!
throwing a halloween party of your own?  here are a few yummy halloween drinks i have tried in the past:

slime punch:  1/4 cup sugar, 2 quarts of lemonade, 1 tsp. meringue powder, 2 liters seltzer, green and yellow food coloring, red tube of decorating gel.  squeeze drops of red gel on outside of clear glasses....it looks like drops of blood.  combine lemonade, sugar and meringue powder (this stuff is going to make the top of the drink frothy- very fun for halloween) om serving container.  slowly pour in seltzer whisking until fully blended.  stir in 10 drops of green food coloring and 4 drops of yellow.  enjoy!  now, i didn't make that recipe up- i just have no idea who did to give them credit :)  but whichever magazine came up with that- thanks!

orange thing cocktail- this one is from sandra lee.  she has a great halloween special each year on the food network.  i would LOVE an invite to one of her parties!  they always look amazing.
1 bottle mango-peach juice chilled, 1 cup orange vodka, 1 cup chilled sparkling water.  combine and garnish with a black plastic spider.

s'mores anyone?

we camped with jacob and his family this summer in our backyard.  this was a first for our boys and jacob was kind enough to teach them the ropes.  we told stories, chased fireflies and played with our flash lights long into the night.  my favorite part? s'mores of course.  jacob likes camping so much he wanted it to be the theme of his birthday party.  i hear it was "the best birthday party of his entire life."  that's big :)  happy birthday jacob!

Jacob wanted s'mores instead of cupcakes

here is the sweet birthday boy with his centerpieces

they had a make your own trail mix station!

if you ask me, way better than a cupcake!
one more thing i wanted to add- his parents gave away flash lights for the favors....yes, that's cute.  if your little scout would like a camp out party too- all of the party supplies can be found at this little sunny spot of mine.  thanks for stopping by!
