i love having company.  i love my house full of life- people laughing, kids playing, good conversations.....you get the picture :)  tonight friends of ours are in town for a visit.  they are spending the night- and we can't wait!  since all of my family lives away we are used to having overnight guests.  i do have a few tips that seem to work for our house.

1.  have all of your laundry done before company comes- that way you can toss all wet towels right in the washing machine.  there is nothing worse than dirty towels all over the place.
2.  get as much of the cooking done ahead of time.  you want to be able to enjoy your company.  this one is the hardest for me.  i feel like sometimes in an effort to make them feel loved by providing lots of home cooked meals....i spend most of my time in the kitchen.
3.  make dessert.  your company is on vacation after all.
4.  leave a small gift or fresh flowers in your guest room or wherever they are sleeping.  it's just a little touch- but a good one.  (i learned that from my college roommate's mom- thanks mrs. burlingame!)

oh, and yes, i started sewing my felt bunting.....and i am in love.

i know this is sort of a random post.  just another little way to fill someones bucket :)
